The Cricket Acumen is just near 37 years and he has so many records under his belt, there has been a debate going in the media about awarding him with Bharat Ratna, with all sports person, film stars , politicians supporting him. If he gets the award, he will be the first ever sports person to get the highest award...

Sachin is an asset to India. He has brought pride for India. He had set all the records in Cricket which, till date noone could break. Surely, he should be honoured with the highest honour of India-Bharat Ratna

Sachin no doubt is a milestone in Cricket. But just because of world record, he is not becoming a Bharat Ratna Candidate. If we keep on giving this kind of respect to everyone, then Bharat Ratna will also become like today's filmfare awards.

Had seen so many arguements and I am putting my views. Why I am supporting this side is that "To consistently perform in a sports field for more than two decades for the country and given countless moments for cheering for nation is any way a big achievement. And his simplicity and concentration adds another feather in his cap. I wont say that Sachin must be awarded with BHARAT RATNA, but I feel no one even supporting the other side wont complain if our govt: will give it to him.

Thanks friends

Bharat Ratna is India's highest civilian award, awarded for the highest degrees of national service. This service includes artistic, literary, and scientific achievements, as well as "recognition of public service of the highest order. Sports can be termed as art. and in cricket Sachin Tendulkar is the legend. We are proud of him.He is the role model of the youths not in India but also throughout the world. So I say yes Sachin should be awarded the Bharat Ratna.

Natterajaji, I agree with you that Bharat Ratna is very valuable title.

In todays condition I feel that sachin is role model to todays youth in more than 1 angle. I take cricket as 25% of his personality  and I give 75% marks to his traits.

Reaching the top of the career and staying at the top for 20 years physically and mentally is great achivement.

Dedication, hardwork humbleness, soceity consciouness, expresses ideas clearly but non-contravertial, passion for task, achievement all in one person are rare.

By recognising such personality we can spread the message that ' we adore good personality with achivement.'

In my view we should creat proper role models for youth so that their energies and efforts are properly channelised.

Sachin should be given Bharat Ratna not only for his achievements on the feild, his behaviour off the feild, his humbleness, his dedication, endurance , persistance.Non contravertial , attitude to learn and improve.

These traits are  emulatable for any person, whatever be the feild.

An ideal personality to showcase our pride and to show as an example for young and all generations.

If there is living man in India who has given a sense of pride, honor and immeasurable amount of joy to the billions of this country for umpteenth number of time, than it has to be Sachin.

I seriously cannot comprehend the logic behind somebody opposing the very thought of it, maybe  their thinking is shrouded by some intangible sense of false morality or perhaps they just need some fresh air to get there senses right.

Ofcourse, Sachin should be awarded with Bharat Ratna!

Just want to tell the people who thinks against this...There is lot of hard work, dedication and heart involved when somebody plays and sets the standards in a game! How come anybody talk about Sachin's achievements not worth Bharat Ratna Award who have not achieved something remarkable in life enough to be even talked about or something to be followed or imitated by others!

Sachin is an "Icon" and "Role Model" of all Indians!

There must be some criteria for awarding "Bharat Ratna".  Ask our politicians what they think about it ........ if there is somthing in their  own favour, then they will surely  go in the favour of Sachin T, otherwise not. But honestly, he deserve for it.

I have believed that Bharath Rathna is to be given to a person who has taken the country forward - to an elder Statesman.  This is the country's highest civilian honour.

Sachin has conducted himself very well throughout his sporting career on and off the field.  His achievements are remarkable.  India as a cricketing nation was at the bottom of the table.  The Prudential Cup victory was victory of underdogs.  Indian have followed it up with creditable performance and are now number one.

I have one point to make.  Whoever is advocating for Sachin for Bharath Rathna - is he totally impartial and is recommending only with genuine intentions?  I am not sure.  Once the debate started, many have joined.  Sachin also has indicated that he would not mind.

One thing comes to my mind.  Sonia was offerred Prime Ministership.  She refused.  Rahul Gandhi was offerred too.   He said the idea is ridiculous and he is not a deserving person.  These responses in my view are honest responses.

There is a process for nominations.  If we had followed the process without seeking publicity and that if Sachin was pitted against other nominees, and if he goes on to win Bharath Rathna, I would have honestly felt pride for him.  This public debate somehow gives me an impression that not every recommendation is an honest one...

I think Sachin should be awarded with Bharat Ratna Award not just because he has made a world record but he has so many world records in his name and has earned fame for Cricket in India and has represented India on a global level. Also for his sportsmanship, dedication, passion for cricket, I think he truly deserves the award.

Yes I support. When cinema actors are given Bharat Ratna for doing their profession without any contribution to the nation, why not for Sachin. He contributed a lot to the nation and also to the world of cricket. He is worth enough for Bharath Ratna.

Sachin has given us Indians so much happiness,so much pride, so much sense of achievement and an idol to follow in cricket and real life(not like the American Golfer!).He has toiled night and day and faced so many hardships with grit and determination to achieve what he has.So I think he richly deserves it.

Sure, it's certainly a nice idea to moot. But closely looking at the way things are planned and executed in India, it would be no surprise if BHARAT RATNA is conferred on him when Arjun features in India XI.

Considering his contribution to the cricket world during the past twenty more years, he really deserve the gratest award of Bharat Ratna. Not only India but other cricketing and non cricketing nations too respect him equally.

The hard work, dedication, committment Sachin has put in his work to keep the Indian team at the top of the list proves that he is a true country man who plays for the country. And the records under his bag shows his performance and his versatality. And the ever awaited double century in the ODI's by everyone has come to an end after he scored 200 against South Africa. So for his long 20 years run for the pride of the nation I think he should be felicitated with Bharat Ratna Award.

Sachin Tendulkar, the Jewel of India has made our country proud. He has achieved a milestone of 200 runs in ODI which was very difficult. He has became a legend all over the world.

So I think he deserves Bharat Ratna…..

Dear Yash.

Would you say any and everyone who excels in a certain field of activity should be awarded "Bharat Ratna"

Most are better aware of Sachin is much more known because of popularity the game he plays has gained again for several reasons. So would you advocate Bharat Ratna on basis of popularity alone or weigh it from the perspectives of THE CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE COUNTRY.

Sachin, is excellent cricket player and the highest sports award must be bestowed on him yet, "Bharat Ratna" should not become a mere sports or single vocation excellence award.

Sachin is just a Sports man. I mean a great Cricketer of our nation.
Also there are many players in our country like him who works hard and try to achieve some thing in their respective career.

Basing only on this reason I don't think that  he deserves Nation's great Highest Civilian Bharat Ratna Award. In my opinion, one has to contribute to the nation a lot to achieve this, not just contributing for one-self.

It would be nice if our govt keeps the award for some time and see how Sachin serves for the nation after retiring from his sport.  Though, it may take certain time,, then  the recipient will be having satisfaction and correct meaning for receiving  the Award.

Thanks,

Sachin has made an history by scoring 200 runs in ODI. There is no doubt in his capabilities he is simply the best but this doesn't mean that he should be rewarded with our highest civilian award "Bharat Ratna". A day may come when some other player in Indian Cricket team may beat Sachin's score and claim for Bharat Ratna too. He deserves a lot of respect but honoring him with the Bharat Ratna may turn out to be a wrong decision.

What do we mean Bharat Ratna...? If we think deeply in to the meaning, it is the Ratna born in this great country. If tomorrow the awardees commit any mistake can we take is back? Will it be a good sign? it would be of great pain to the total country. I think Bharata Ratna can be awarded to those who sacrifice their lives for our nation and made ultimate contribution. We have not given this Award for Mahatma Gandhi. First lets ensure the award is given to the greatest personalities of India, our greatest nation.

Sachin is a legend no doubt. But 'Bharat Ratna' is also prestigious and most respectable. Is it not too early to confer such a prestigious and respectable award to somebody who still has much more to achieve. It would be better if Sachin is given more time, so that he can achieve more before he be given such a honour. Also there are many people in this country who deserve 'Bharat Ratna'. Of course Sachin is no doubt to receive the highest honour of the country in future. Kudos to him.

Guyz,

Sachin is no doubt a great cricketer, one of the best in World Cricket as well.

But why Bharat Ratna? It is exclusive reward, better to say recognition for lifetime work for betterment of country Or  work which inspired, for a better living/thinking etc.

consider the past 'Bharat Ratna's and their contribution in Indian society, economy, morale, history etc.

If our govt. thinks that Sachin can be placed in a same position where Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, CV Raman, Lata Mageshkar are then it will be the most ridiculous effort in History. Cricket is a game/ career it self. We can live without it and frankly speaking, 180 countries with 70% world POP do live without this :)

Most of the Indians are cricket maniac and got tendency to see 'cricketer' in the seat of national heroes.

If you feel his career can enhance morale of ur child then why dont we nominate Tata/ Birla for that position? Atleast they have created employment, and undoubtedly 'Indian Brand' to the world. Once they are over then consider Mr Daud Ibrahim, he started his career from Mumbai.

However, prior to consider this nomination, I think we Indians should never forget some other remarkable Indians in the sports arena

1.Dhyanchand[Hockey]

2.Gostho Pal[football]

3.Sailen Manna

4.Prakash Padukone

6.Kapil Dev

7.Mr. Tiger Patoudi Jr.

8.Sunil M Gavaskar etc.

Personally I feel, we shud start a movement to recognize the work of our forgotten hero Netaji S. C. Bose. Who was eventually awarded a 'Bharat Ratna' but it was taken back.

Sorry for my point folks, but personally I cannot retaliate Mr. Tendulkar with our freedom fighters or even Major Unnikrishnan.

Jai Hind.

Well good debate for politicians who want to divert attention from their work.

Does Sachin deserves Bharat Ratna ?

Apart from scoring milestones and making records for information what is the contribution of him to India and common man ?

Then Should Kapil Dev should be awarded Bharat Ratna simillar to Sachin, He was captain when India Won World cup.

If this happens then all states will pressurise their candidate for Bharat Ratna ans as Mr Ayan says it will be just filmfare award.

A person has put his lifetime effort into cricket, he is passionate about batting, committment about fielding everthing is ok., But can you think when he reaches near to 90's and after 90's the slow rate of batting he does. Second thing if you people consider him as Genius or so called Bharath Ratna, Why cann't he lead the team.Check MSD, he is person who thinks about India, he thinks about sentimments of people of India in cricket , he thinks about wins  where as sachin how to make hundred, how to reach 20,000 runs. Considering this factor  I consider him as not a contender for Bharath Ratna.
