Today we are no longer citizens of a country, if you expand your vision you will figure that you can’t but help being a citizen of the world. You need to get world wide exposure on your career and job profile. You necessarily need not relocate to a foreign country to further your prospects but you certainly can bring a global and international feel to your career no matter where you are stationed.

Check The Job Profile & Act On It

idea posted by Kriti Das HR Manager, ANZ Information Technology

The professional scenario in India still could use a professional makeover. Don’t wait for trends to set in, create them. Even if you are working in a small-time local company, you can still create international working standards for yourself. When I started out my career as a trainer, I did research about leading training institutes in the world and adopted their best practices from the start. Today my company is admired for its international standards of service and quality.

If you feel that a particular company holds your dream job, then get information on how you can bring the ‘dream job’ factor in your current position. Google does not allow the world to keep secrets, and professional success has never been so easy.

Yes Kirti one should check the job profile and act on the same. As far as MNC's are concerned their work pattern is smae globally. In order to give exposure they are being sent abroad to find out the performance of their counterparts and on being back try to follow the lines to excel in performance.

Pick their brains, contribute towards their success, get professional tips. Instead of posting a comment about the rain and flooded streets, use social networking portals to promote yourself and to invite ideas. Ideas are brain food, they keep your productive, passionate and focused

Connect with people in your industry world wide.

You are right Kriti, one has to go for the profile that suits him/her. Besides that I wuould like to add another idea here.

Chat and get ideas. A whole new world opens up when you extend your communication with people in your area of business. It serves you no good to treat them as competition and hide your ideas in your head. Ideas are worth nothing unless put into action.

Ideate with people in your field. Pick their brains, contribute towards their success, get professional tips. Instead of posting a comment about the rain and flooded streets, use social networking portals to promote yourself and to invite ideas. Ideas are brain food, they keep your productive, passionate and focused.

TRY TO ESTABLISH CONTACTS WITH YOUR COMPANY OFFICES IN OTHER COUNTRIES IF YOU ARE WORKING FOR A MNC.

Thanks for the referral Ms Kirti

I agree with Ms Mahalaxmi in this , when we connect with people from diffrent background we come to know about different ways of presenting ourselves.

Brilliant idea Kriti, the sooner one realises that we empower ourselves by sharing the knowledge we have the sooner we become internationally competitive. by sharing what you know allows one to absorb what others know hence tap in to the very best ideas.

P-D-C-A methodology adaption and self desciplined

Everything is going -- technologies, techniques, ethics, standards, skills, diversification in various aspects. Learn more and try to implement in your real life scenarios, compare the results , take appropriate action. I always use google search for anything i want to know and once i learn something, i start to look after alternative solutions and any other methods. Also participating in forums can really helps us to understand how and what others are thinking.

Plan-Do-Check-Act is my kind of professional growth technique. I strongly believe one can grow easily when compared to him/herself instead to comparing between groups or other individuals. All in all, i like PDCA

Yes Chaitanya,

Basics and never loose sight on "4-W + 1-H", alongside P D C A.

What + When+ Where+ Why & HOW? this provides answers to Quest.

Once these two approaches are in place and growing continually, you are already there.

Grow a culture in the neighbourhood

Working is not necessarily always a corporate environment. A rich-shaw puller is also a worker. When we talk of international standards of working, it is meant for these kind of people also. So, to have a international standard of working, you need to create an environ in the neighbourhood by emulating yourself to otheres.

Chart out your career growth yourself.

Do some research on your ‘next move’ in your career. With Google on your side, you can become a national champion with the information you can use. Don’t be at the mercy of your seniors or your performance to decide where your next step should be. When I explored the greatest coaches in the world, I saw that they were also best selling authors. I knew then that writing a book should be next on my agenda to further my career and I did. Mentoring is not an established industry in India yet and so the responsibility is in our hands to explore and plan our own progress paths.
